Downtown Indianapolis really boomed this summer with new restaurants. This resident is excited! We have a lot of options, but I’m always a fan of having more places to go. Here are some of the new places that have recently opened up.
Primanti Brothers
Pittsburg’s Primanti Brothers made its way to downtown Indianapolis in place of the old California Pizza Kitchen at the corner of Maryland and Illinois. If you love bread, meat and fries on sandwiches, this is a place for you. But even if you don’t like fries on your sandwiches, it’s great too. I’m unfortunately one of those people that can’t eat fries. Somehow, not sure why, I was given a potato allergy so I cannot eat fries on my sandwiches (even though I used to love to). Don’t feel bad to me, you learn to live when you know what makes you feel like crud. Long story short, this place is good! We went just after they opened. If you go after 10:05 p.m. you can take advantage of amazing deals. We each got two appetizers, two entrees and an alcoholic beverage for around $20. That is unheard of.
Hyde Park Steakhouse
The first floor dining portion of the historic Illinois Building is complete with the addition of Hyde Park Steakhouse. We haven’t been yet, but I love that the corner is complete and the inside looks gorgeous. This upscale dining option is a great addition to the area and I look forward to trying it! They have a variety of upscale options and nights before 6 p.m. have a $20 entree menu. So if you frequent Mortons, St. Elmo’s or Ruth Chris, maybe give this place a try (and let me know what you think!)
Punch Bowl Social
When Jillian’s was open in Downtown Indianapolis, I went once or twice. It closed before we moved here. Well a few months ago Punch Bowl Social opened and I’m looking forward to going there. Conveniently located in the Circle Center Mall, this place has a mix for everyone. Not only can you dine there, but you can have fun too. You can eat great food, drink delicious drinks and then also have fun. From pool to bowling, this place has a variety of options allowing you to stay in one place for hours. And if you park in Circle Center’s moon garage, you don’t ever have to go outside. With the addition of Punch Bowl Social, they re-opened the Georgia Street entrance of the mall and it looks great. If you are on a date or want to go somewhere fun with a group of friends downtown, this is the place.
