I know you aren’t supposed to call attention to the fact that you haven’t been around on a blog. But I haven’t posted a blog since April. It’s November. That’s a lot of time. I’m kicking myself for that.
It’s no excuse, but it’s been a busy year for me. I blog part-time for fun and have been trying to focus a lot of time being healthy. On top of all that, for a good part of the year I was working on my career.
I was working for a great company and have so many close friends that I’d made there over the years. But I was slowly straying away from what I wanted to do and what I spent all my years in college working towards.
After a long hard search filled with many ups and downs over the last few years, I accepted a position with Ivy Tech Community College on September 16. I’m over a month into my decision and I know it was the right one for me. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the IU School of Journalism at IUPUI, with a second concentration in New Media (web design) and now, get to use all of it. ALL of it. That means a lot to me. Doing what I wanted to do is important to me and I will always strive to do what I want to do.
I remember writing since I was in the second grade. It’s funny, I would make up newspapers and people would actually read them. Since then, I’ve always been doing something with content. From poetry to journalism, I’ve done it all. Then when choosing what to add on to my journalism degree, web design seemed like a great fit. I’m glad I chose that route because I enjoy it.
So, here I am. Every day is an adventure. I’m going to ride this wave as long as I can.
Throughout the last month or so of change, I have to say I love all of the friends I’ve made at Central Restaurant Products. It was a bittersweet goodbye. But I’ll always have them and that’s all that matters. And for Ivy Tech, I love seeing the success in others. All of the students are so passionate to be there or have graduated from there. I look forward to what the future holds working there.
I’ve also been having a great summer that has turned into fall living in downtown Indianapolis. I’m hoping to bring you some new things that I’ve experienced as a resident. It is a great place. Here’s to the last few months of 2016.
