The Incredible, Edible Egg

An egg a day keeps the doctor away? It’s been my go-to for years.

EggsWhy Eggs?

Call me boring, but for breakfast each morning for the better part of at least a year, the egg is my go-to.

The entire egg.

A couple years ago I was talking to one of my doctor’s about losing weight. She asked what some of my typical things I ate were.

“Egg whites for breakfast,” I started, in which she then stopped me.

She herself had lost weight and looked fantastic.

Upfront she told me it wasn’t fun and she had to make quite a few changes, but in many ways she didn’t. One of those were eggs.

“Eat the whole egg! Yolk in all!”

She told me how miserable it was to just eat egg whites and the benefits of eating the full egg.

Ever since that day, I stopped only eating egg whites. She was right. They are boring. And eggs have many benefits.

Benefits of Eggs

“Eggs are a very good source of inexpensive, high quality protein. More than half the protein of an egg is found in the egg white along with vitamin B2 and lower amounts of fat and cholesterol than the yolk,” said Good Food. ¬†“The whites are rich sources of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper. Egg yolks contain more calories and fat. They are the source of cholesterol, fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K and lecithin – the compound that enables emulsification in recipes such as hollandaise or mayonnaise.”

Dash GoQuick Way to Make Eggs: Dash Go Egg Cooker

In the morning, there isn’t much time to make breakfast.

I hadn’t thought about making eggs in a microwave until I subscribed to Hungry Girl’s website. I always made my eggs on the stove top in a pan which took awhile–so I would only eat them on weekends. Her emails gave me ideas of things I could quickly do with eggs….in my microwave!

However, in mid-2015, my husband and I were in Kohls. I was just shopping around for nothing in particular when I came across the Dash Go Egg Cooker.

I thought this would be a cheap product, but I’ve been using it for over six months. I can make any type of egg in 10 minutes or less.

I botched hardboiled eggs every time until I bought a Dash Go. Now? Flawless. Every. Single. Time.

Learn more about it here–and all in all, I recommend it. HIGHLY recommend it!
