My close friend and former colleague, Stacy, came to me a couple years ago. I remember it clearly, we were having drinks at an Applebee’s catching up because she had something she wanted to talk to me about. She was working on a book after being brought into this project. Farm families in Indiana wanted to have their family stories documented and she asked if I wanted to join in on the one she was working on.
I’d never written a book before. I’ve had several news articles published and have been published in a few books with compilations, but never an actual book. Of course I was up to the challenge and I had the perfect person to work with.
The book titled Fields of Blessings is about the Stafford Family who reside in Tipton, Ind. (which is north of Indianapolis).
The story starts in the early 1900s with the first generation of the Stafford family and today their farmlands are being cared for by the third and fourth generations. That’s pretty awesome, and they are a very close family. Great people.
The past few years have been such a learning experience as we literally did everything ourselves. We wrote it, edited it, reached out to others for another look and I designed the entire thing. Then we worked with our publisher to get it printed and put on Amazon.
It was a lot of work, but in the grand scheme of things, was very do-able. We were able to figure things out every step of the way.
So anyway, I thought I would share this with all of you. You can check out quite a bit in the preview. It’s a great read for anyone interested in farming and it’s also great for kids. We wrote it so it could be placed in local libraries and schools if they wanted.
Find it here on Amazon where you can purchase a print copy or one for your Kindle.
Thanks everyone! Very proud of this project and had to share!
