I watched this video just now, from a boy named Jonah. I hope the power of what he has to share reaches far to other kids like him.
I am absolutely disgusted with bullying. It has gotten to this point where children are attempting and committing suicide. This is sick. Why? Because they don’t realize how great things can be. What life will be like after school. All you know is what’s in your school, what your parents teach you, what’s on TV, etc. Kids don’t know any better. You don’t know what you don’t know.
But here is what I do know that I want all kids to know.
IT GETS BETTER.
It is absolutely sick that some kids, and adults for that matter, feel it’s okay to bully. It’s not. What gives you the right to put someone down for being who they are? It doesn’t matter what others are doing! If it doesn’t affect you, then stay out. And if you’re being hurt, talk to someone.
Find someone you are comfortable with. If you’re at a point where you just don’t know where else to go, what to do, find someone you trust. It doesn’t have to be your parents. It doesn’t have to be friends you don’t trust. But find someone you do trust and hang on. I promise you, there is someone out there who cares. And the amazing thing about the internet and social media now is the ability to find others like you. People with the same interest. People with the same fears.
The people bullying you aren’t going to get far in life. I promise that to you. Don’t let them break you. Hold on. At the end of it all, whether it’s the school year or type of school you’re in~you will be the bigger person. You won’t realize it now, but you will.
I love how Jonah said he isn’t going anywhere because he has a million reasons to be here.
You’re so young. You have so much life to live. Find the one thing that gets you through and hold onto it tight. Because it really does get better.
